Longing for What the World Cannot Give

—The Illusion of Earthly Peace

I wonder if the longing of earthly peace is naïve.
🧐 Has there ever been a time in human history when true peace existed?
👉 Every kingdom has been built through war and conquest.
👉 Even the empires we admire today — the ones we hold in high regard — were born through bloodshed.
❓Which empire was not forged through fighting and killing?

📌 The more I reflect, the more I realize: World peace may not be possible.

🤔 Human nature — characterized by pride, fear, greed, and the desire for power — repeats the same cycles. Nations rise and fall. Treaties are signed and broken. Empires build monuments to glory while silently hiding the costs.

We crave peace, but we pursue it with weapons in hand.

And yet…

There is a different kind of peace — one that doesn’t depend on borders, politics, or king.
A peace that does not fade with time or tremble at conflict.

👉 It is spiritual peace — the kind that Jesus spoke of when He said,
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27 (NIV)

📌 In this verse, Jesus is offering His divine peace — not temporary or circumstantial, like the world’s version of peace, but deep, lasting, soul-level peace.

📍It’s a message of comfort that surpasses understanding, especially in times of fear, grief, or uncertainty.

📍It is the stillness in the soul when everything around is shaking.

✳️ So while I may stop believing in world peace, I have not stopped believing in divine peace
The kind that begins in the heart and reaches beyond the grave.
